BirdLife Southern Queensland embrace important issues

BirdLife Southern Queensland's highlight in 2016 has been embracing the importance of multifaceted education initiatives to raise public awareness of birds in our region. We co-hosted the Queensland Ornithological Conference, funded a bursary for the Science Teachers Association of Queensland, and have had tremendous success with our Birds of SEQ book, now in its third reprint. Our ongoing commitment to shorebird advocacy incorporates initiatives to educate school children about the wonders and threats to shorebird migration, and via our Yandina, Toondah and Broadwater campaigns, educating the public about the urgent need to preserve and protect critically endangered shorebird feeding grounds and high tide roosts.
