We opposed the weakening of land clearing laws

BirdLife Southern NSW considers our efforts to oppose the weakening of land clearing laws as our greatest achievement for 2016. Our efforts were spearheaded by key members of our Conservation Committee - Kurtis Lindsay, Luke Durrington and Sam Watkins. Kurtis and representatives from BigNet met with a senior advisor to the NSW Environmental Minister; providing a detailed critique of the proposed changes and their implications for biodiversity and calling for our concerns to be reviewed and addressed in full. Growing work and family commitments mean that Kurtis has retired from the Conservation Committee. We would like to thank him sincerely for his invaluable contribution to our work.
