BirdLife Bass Coast raised money for bird conservation projects.

The highlight of the BirdLife Bass Coast year was the Twitchathon held in November. Three teams competed raising money for bird conservation projects. The Phillip Island team knew where to get their special birds— Whimbrel, Black-faced Cormorant and Kelp Gull. The Inverloch-Bald Hills team were lucky to include many waders on their list plus a Sacred Kingfisher and a Mistletoebird, and the Wonthaggi team struggled to find many of the usually common birds. A full list of 111 was compiled at a local pub at the end of the day. All participants had a great day and the competition among them was fierce.
