This week, we celebrated #WorldMigratoryBirdDay.

Sadly, for some of our migratory birds, the future is uncertain. Migratory shorebirds are experiencing rapid declines across the East Asian-Australasian Flyway.

Here at BirdLife Australia, we’re advocating for all important shorebird habitat in Australia to be protected. In Queensland, we’re campaigning to protect Toondah Harbour from inappropriate development. In Victoria, we’re advocating for the former Moolap Salt Works to be declared an international bird sanctuary.

A healthy future for our migratory shorebirds also means a healthy future for people.
