Shoalhaven hosts a successful Birdata and KBA workshop

Many thanks for everyone’s input and enthusiasm at the Key Biodiversity Areas workshop in St Georges Basin last weekend. The workshop was another step in embedding the KBA program as a key platform for bird conservation. Special thanks must go to Alan Stuart in skilling us all up on bird survey techniques, the Birdata portal and app & of course Golo Maurer. The guidance of such a committed BirdLife Australia manager will be vital as the program evolves and grows nationally. We are really lucky to have such a passionate person working with us. Thanks Golo for coming all the way down from Cairns.

The workshop has certainly fired us up locally and Karen Davis is already looking at where to set up shared sites in the Jervis Bay KBA, as well as for the 12 walks in our new brochure. We hope this will get more people using Birdata down our way.

At the same event Mayor Amanda Findley launched the Shoalhaven Bird Walks brochure that has been positively received by the locals. The brochure can be picked up at the Nowra and Ulladulla Visitor Centres - or downloaded for printing by clicking on the following link http://www.birdlifeshoalhaven.org/pdfs/shoalhavenbirdwalks.pdf

We have posted stories on our Facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/shoalhavenbirdlife/ - on the workshop and bird walk brochure. Please like, comment and share our posts to spread the word.
