Congratulations to the Larrakia Land and Sea Rangers

As part of the closing ceremony at the 2019 Australian Ornithological Conference, James O’Connor, Head of Research at BirdLife Australia presented some of the Larrakia Land and Sea Rangers with their award:

“We would like to congratulate the Larrakia Nation Aboriginal Corporation for winning one of two BirdLife Australia Indigenous Grants for Bird Research and Conservation in 2019. In awarding this grant our independent panel recognised their outstanding work for Shorebirds in the Shoal Bay Key Biodiversity Area. The grant includes a workshop on country and equipment to support the fantastic bird conservation work of the Larrakia Rangers. Well done.“
